Anyone anywhere in the world who would like to see the “Jose Mendiague” pastoral, dedicated to this illustrious Basque from the Diaspora, can do so via the internet. The organization invites anyone interested, Basque students, Basque culture enthusiasts, and the Diaspora in general to watch the show. It includes Spanish subtitles, expressly for those abroad. They also propose, around that, collective discussions on Mendiague, his contributions, life in the Diaspora that time, or the role of Diaspora Basques in relation to the general Basque culture.

Hazparne, Lapurdi.  Jose Mendiague is among Iparragirre and Otaño as one of the greatest bards of the Diaspora, despite being relatively unknown to many.  A wonderful opportunity to get to know Mendiague better, his profile, the Diaspora, the Basque Country of his time as well as the popular theater that is the pastoral in Zuberoa, will be provided this Saturday September 8, at 15:30 continental European time (5 hours ahead of Argentina and 6 hours ahead of New York) thanks to the town of Arrokiaga who is putting on the performance, as well as to supporters and organizers in Hazparne.  Hazparne (Hasparren in French) is the place where Mendiague grew up and the town that has made this special tribute possible.  The pastoral was written by Zuberoan Johaño Bordaxar.

Anyone who may be in the Basque Country on this date can enjoy the last chance to see the performance in person, in Hazparne at 15:30 on September 8.

But thinking that the pastoral has a direct relationship with the Diaspora and also the countries of the Rio de la Plata and others would have people interested in seeing the spectacle, the organization put forth a great effort to record and be able to broadest the pastoral via internet, thanks to the agreement reached with Kanaldude, the popular TV channel in Iparralde.

You can watch by clicking on this link.

Important note: Even though the live broadcast begins at 15:30 on Saturday the 8th, the show will be available including Sunday the 9th, in hopes of diminishing the time differences and making it available to the most people possible in the Diaspora.
