The Basque Government announces four internship possibilities in the US (1), Argentina (1) and in Vitoria (2)

The Basque Government published the call for four grants specializing in the area of Basque collectivities and Basque centers abroad. The Official Bulletin of the Basque Country included the call for these grants for the 2012 year in yesterday’s edition. The grants are for 24 months and internships will take place at the office of the Secretary General of Foreign Action in Vitoria-Gasteiz (2) and at Basque Government delegations or facilities in both Argentina (1) and in the United States (1). Eligible applicants may be citizens of the Basque Autonomous Community or members of any Basque Government recognized Basque club/entity. The deadline to apply is January 16, 2012.

Vitoria-Gasteiz.  Persons interested in applying need to meet the following criteria: 

- Be a resident of the Basque Autonomous Community prior to the date of the call for applications, or be a member of an officially recognized Basque club/entity
- Hold a university degree
- Be no older than 30 years old at the beginning of January of the year that the scholarship begins
- Not be a previous recipient of an equal or similar scholarship from the Basque Government 

The amount of each grant is 32,000 Euros for the internships in Vitoria-Gasteiz and 48,000 Euros for the internships in Argentina and the US, all subject however to the corresponding withholding tax.  Payments will be made in three installments: the first payment of 50% upon acceptance of the grant, and presentation of an initial report; a second 40% a year, upon receipt of interim reports; and a final payment of 10%, following the submission of a final report and receipts by the Directorate for Citizens and Basque Communities Abroad.

Applications may be submitted in Vitoria-Gasteiz, at the Directorate for Citizens and Basque Communities Abroad, or at any of the delegations of Euskadi abroad or at other places recognized by law. The deadline for applications is January 16, 2012.

The list including the successful candidates, as well as the unsuccessful ones, will be available at: www.euskadi.net/euskaldunak and on Irekia.  Those who are not accepted have ten days in order to appeal.  Applicants will be personally notified of the resolution that will also be published for general information in the Official Bulletin of the Basque Country and also on Euskadi.net.
