Lucia Goñi: for the first time in 101 years a woman elected as president of the Euskaro Center of Montevideo

Since the elections on May 26, a woman now presides over the Centro Euskaro in Montevideo for the first time in 101 years. Her name is Lucía Goñi Spinoglio and she will be in charge of the Euskal Etxea during the 2012-13 term. It so happens that the result of this “historic” election in Montevideo is a board of directors comprised mainly of women.

Montevideo, Uruguay.  The General  Assembly of the Euskaro Center of Montevideo was held on Saturday May 26 where the new Board of Directors was elected for the 2012-13 term.  The new board of directors follows:

-President: Lucía Goñi Spinoglio
-Vice-president: Julio Garcia Denis
-Secretary: Martha Perdomo
-Pro-Secretary: Teresita Arcelus Belloni
-Treasurer: Carlos Larragueta
-Pro-Treasurer: María del Carmen Latienda
-Librarian: Juan Pedro Arin San Martin
-Directors: Pedro Biscayzacú and Silvia Ortone Enderiz

“This is an historic election for the institution since it is the first time in 101 years that a woman has been chosen president,” Basque club sources told EuskalKultura.com.  “It is also noteworthy that women now outnumber men on the board.”

    bonjour j'aimerai connaitre les origines de Monsieur Garcia Denis, par rapport a son nom Denis, je suis moi meme originaire de la province de soule(Xiberua), je sais que des denis sont parti en amerique du sud, orogonaire de Urrugne (Lapurdi)
