Call for applications for Gaztemundu 2014, Basque dance program to be held in July in Donostia

The Basque Government has called on dancers and people in charge of dance groups outside of the Basque Country to participate in the 2014 edition of Gaztemundu, that will take place July 5th through 20th in Donostia-San Sebastián. There is no maximum age limit, and anyone who meets the requirements and has not participated since 2003 is welcome to take part in the program. The deadline for submissions of applications is June 3.

Vitoria-Gasteiz. Gaztemundu 2014 is open! This year this formative program is dedicated to euskal dantza, and aimed at dancers and group directors in the Diaspora. The course will be coordinated by expert dancer and professor Oier Araolaza. The Official Bulletin of the Basque Country published the advertisement last Friday. The dead line for submission of original presentations is June 3.

There is no maximum age limit for participants this year. The requirements for applicants are as follows:

- As of January 1, 2014 is at least 18 years old

- Lives outside of the Basque Country and has been a member of a recognized Basque club for at least three years now

- Is an accredited teacher or director of a tradition Basque dance group

- Has not participated in Gaztemundu since 2003

Important: applicants should submit a video recording, a minimum of three minutes long and of good quality, that shows them teaching a traditional dance class.
