Carolyn Elexpuru (December 25, 1945 - January 4, 2017)

Carolyn Elexpuru, age 71, passed away at home with her family by her side January 4, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Carolyn was born Christmas day, 1945 in Gooding, Idaho as the first of eight children to Herman and Ruth Braun. She was raised on a homestead in Shoshone, and graduated from Gooding High School. Shortly after she married and had her son, John in 1966 and daughter, Julie in 1967. She worked at the Bank of Idaho, then started working at Boise Cascade. With her banking and construction experience, Carolyn started her own business, Home Design, in which she helped many families build, remodel, and redecorate their homes.

Carolyn met the love of her life and married Martin Elexpuru May 9, 1983 in Elko, Nevada while hauling a load of hay to California. Together the family continued to run Home Design and the Wood River Inn in Gooding. They had their daughter, Alyssa in 1986. Carolyn studied, and obtained a contractor's license for the State of Nevada and her and Martin built houses in Elko for two years. Afterwards, they bought a ranch to farm and raise cattle and continued building houses in Gooding. Carolyn was a Gooding County Commissioner for six and a half years. She loved working for the people to keep Gooding a thriving community.

Carolyn and Martin moved to the Twin Falls area in 2006, and made multiple attempts to retire, however Carolyn's passion was building beautiful homes, finishing two more spec houses this last summer.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents Herman and Ruth Braun.

She is survived by her husband, Martin Elexpuru; four children; son, John Stevens, daughters, Julie (Eddy) Griggs, Tara Freeman, and Alyssa Elexpuru; six brothers; Jim Braun, Robert (Vicki) Braun, Raymond (Donna) Braun, Ron (Ennice) Braun, Don (Becca) Braun, Bill Braun; one sister, Bonita Koonce; six grandchildren, Demi (Louige) Bascog, Abbi Stevens, Parker Elliott, Preston Elliott, Riley Sharkey, and Reegan Schultz; and three great grandchildren, Aaliyah, Abraham, and Andre Bascog.

There will be a rosary service Friday, January 13, 2017 at 7:00 PM, and a funeral service will be held Saturday January 14, 2017 at 10:00 am, both at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Gooding.

There will be a celebration of life following the funeral service at The Gooding Basque Center located at 285 Euskadi Lane in Gooding.

Carolyn's family would like to thank Dr. Jared Helms and the Encompass Hospice team, Aleena, Adina, Lyndsey and Nicke for excellent and compassionate care of Carolyn and her family.
