Arturo Fernandez Vasco was born on April 13, 1945, in Riano, Spain, to Arturo Vasco Rodriguez and Carmen Fernandez Fernandez. He grew up and went to school in Spain and came to the United States when he was 19 years old and worked for the Geraud Ranch in Riverton.

He moved to Buffalo in 1969 and went to work for the Esponda Ranch. He was married on Sept. 23, 1972, in Buffalo to Christine Garland, and they made their home in Buffalo. In 1979, they moved to Powell, where he worked on an oil rig.  

In 1982, they moved to Thermopolis, where he worked on the Joe Campbell Ranch. In 1984, they took a job with the Clear Creek Cattle Co. in Lost Cabin. In 1986, they moved back to Buffalo and back to work for the Esponda Ranch, where he worked for the next 25 years. Arturo retired in 2012 and continued living in Buffalo until his death.

He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, gardening, horseback riding and his dogs.  His passion was spending time with his family but he was a die-hard Denver Broncos fan.

He is survived by his wife, Chriss of Buffalo; two sons, Kico Vasco and his wife Lillie Mae of Buffalo and Daniel Vasco and his wife Dawn (Camino) of Reno, Nevada; one daughter, Victoria Vasco of Los Angeles; one brother, Vicente Vasco and his wife Maria Leonor of Riverton; one sister, Maria Fernando of Spain; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister and one nephew.

Funeral services for Arturo Vasco, 72-year-old Buffalo resident who passed away suddenly Thursday evening at his home east of Buffalo, were Wednesday, June 7, at the Harness Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo with the Rev. John Constantine officiating. Visitation was held Tuesday and Wednesday at the funeral home chapel. A private family interment will be in Willow Grove Cemetery in Buffalo. Donations in Mr. Vasco's memory may be made to the Johnson County 4-H in care of Harness Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo.
