The Bakersfield Californian. In its 46th year, the event, put on by the Kern County Basque Club at its South Union Avenue clubhouse, runs throughout Memorial Day weekend with dancing, handball, a card tournament and that famous food.

Locals and visitors, club members and newcomers — all are welcome to join in the fun at the clubhouse, 2301 S. Union Ave. Admission is free, with fees for tournaments, food and raffles.
The schedule
SATURDAY
-8 a.m.: Mus tournament ($35, includes lunch)
-Noon-1:30 p.m.: Lunch ($20, $15 for honorary members and children 12 and under)
-1 to 5 p.m.: Paleta and pelota games featuring local players
-5 p.m. Pelota/handball game with professional players
SUNDAY
-10 a.m. Mass by Monsignor Craig Harrison with the KCBC klika and choir
-Noon to 2 p.m.: Barbecue lamb lunch ($25, $20 for children and honorary members)
-2:30 p.m. Performances by the KCBC junior and adult dancers along with the KCBC klika
-4:30 p.m. Lunch with lukainka (Basque sausage) or ham and cheese sandwiches ($8)
-7:30 p.m. Dance, with music by Amerikanuak
-8:30 p.m. Raffle drawing
