Jean Arguindeguy

Jean Harguindeguy passed away peacefully on March 9th, 2017 at Kaiser Hospital in San Francisco.

He was born on February 7th, 1935 in Arhansus, France. In the Basque country to his beloved parents Jeanne and Dominique Harguindeguy. 

Jean was the son of farmers and one of seven children. In 1967, Jean and his brother Arnaud decided to emigrate from France to join their brother Pierre who had also arrived in San Francisco a few years prior. Jean worked as a landscape gardener for over 45 years in San Francisco. He enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his entire life.
In 1976, he married Julie Ayala, who predeceased him in 2013. 

He was also preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Pierre and Jean-Marie, and his eldest sister Marie-Jeanne Lucu.

He leaves behind two sisters living in France, Anne Petrissans and Gracianne Etcheberry ; and his younger brother Arnaud living in Woodland, California; along with many nieces and nephews.

He will be dearly missed by family and friends in France and in California.

A rosary and Funeral Mass for Jean will be at St. Gabriel Church of San Francisco, (2559 - 40th Ave) on March 16 at 7:00 pm. Burial ceremony will follow the next morning at Cypress Lawn Cemetery at 11:30 am in Colma. Everyone is welcome to attend.
