Sweet Gracie…. Just a few months after her 93rd birthday, Grace passed away peacefully with her family around her late Tuesday night, April 4th.

She was born on January 23rd, 1924 in Ahaxe, France (Pays Basque) to her beloved parents, Joana and Pierre Mindurry. Grace was the second oldest of six children.

On August 22nd, 1957, Grace made the decision to come to join her beloved fiance, Leon Franchisteguy in San Francisco. 9 days later Grace and Leon were married on August 31, 1957. They were married at Notre Dame des Victoires Church in San Francisco. They were married for 53 wonderful years.

While expecting their first child in 1959, they purchased their home in the Sunset. There they raised their two daughters Linda and Michelle.

Grace was a supportive wife, nurturing mother and in later life a loving caretaker to her daughter and husband. Family always came first for Grace.

As time went on, Grace and Leon purchased their weekend home in Sonoma. There they both enjoyed entertaining friends and family with delicious barbeques.

Grace's passions were her faith, family, home and friends. She enjoyed weekends in Sonoma, Sundays at the Basque Cultural Center and countless dinners and picnics for the many French and Basque Clubs in the Bay Area. Grace also enjoyed working outside with Leon in his garden where he grew fresh vegetables and fruits.

Grace lost her youngest daughter Michelle in late 2008 and her husband Leon in early 2011. She now joins both of them along with many other family members and friends who have passed away.

Grace will be deeply missed by her daughter Linda (Franchisteguy) Orellana and son-in-law Richard Orellana of Daly City. Surviving younger brother, Arnold Mindurry and youngest sister and brother-in-law Paulette (Mindurry) and Henri Darigarde as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A rosary/vigil will be held on Tuesday at 7:00pm at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Avenue, Daly City. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, 10:00am at Notre Dame des Victoires, SF. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery will be at a later date.
