Île aux Basques is an island located in the lower estuary of the St. Lawrence River, about 5 kilometres north of Trois-Pistoles, in Les Basques Regional County Municipality of the Bas-Saint-Laurent in Quebec. It was adquired by the Société Provancher in 1929 and it has been thereafter a protected area as a sanctuary for migratory birds. That has been instrumental to protect also the island from developing, specially regarding the four ovens that Basque whale hunters built there. The island was recgniced in 2001 as Canada's National Historic Place.
