Oñati and the Americans

To end the first day, Iñaki Galdos, from Oñati presented research he is conducting on the 90 American students and teachers coming to his hometown in 1974. The majority of them being of Basque origin, came to Oñati to spend the school year to study and to get acquainted with the Basque language and culture. There were rumors that this group was affiliated with the CIA that got substantial press coverage event included reactions from ETA and affiliated groups asking to boycott this trip and stay that finally took place successfully.
