This weekend they will play in India, and from there they’ll travel to Argentina where they will give a concert on December 14 in Buenos Aires, presenting “Nomadak TX” for the first time on Argentine soil. The concert is based on the award-winning documentary by the same name, a sort of musical road movie where the band travels the world. The Basque-Argentine Silvia Iriondo is joining them in Buenos Aires and the group is also ready to give txalaparta workshops at some Basque clubs in the days preceding. Do you want to apply?

EuskalKultura.com interviewed Harkaitz Martinez de San Vicente, who is a member of Oreka TX a few days before leaving for India, where they will present “Nomadak TX” at the World Percussion Festival in Nueva Delhi (on Sunday). Afterwards, they will travel to Argentina where they will also present the show, based on the documentary by the same name. “This is the first time that we’re taking ‘Nomadak TX’ to Argentina; it’s curious since we’ve been to many places,” said Harkaitz.
This is a project that has spent many years on the road. The documentary debuted in 2006, and has received 15 awards at international film festivals, while the group has toured the world giving concerts inspired by the film. This time, the formation of Oreka TX has even changed with Igor Otxoa leaving the group and txalapartari, Mikel Ugarte, taking his place. Mixel Ducau is also accompanying them at these concerts.
The group that will perform in Buenos Aires on December 14th will include Basque-Argentine Silvia Iriondo as guest artist. “We met her in May in Bilbao, at one of our presentations of Herritomoa, along with Kukai and Kalakan,” said Harkaitz. In Buenos Aires, besides the concert they will teach txalaparta workshops at the percussion school Siete Octavos. “We will show them txalaparta, how its played, dividing the rhythms…” he said.
Before the concert, the txalapartaris will spend several days in Argentina. They will taking advantage of to visit friends, members of the Diaspora and Basques residing in Buenos Aires.
