More than fifty guests gathered at the Euzko Txokoa clubhouse in General Acha, La Pampa to initiate the club’s 50th anniversary program of activities. At a moving ceremony, the club presented its standard bearers, and unveiled commemorative plaques while paying tribute to its founding members.

Gral. Acha, Argentina.  Planning for the Euzko Txokoa’s 50th anniversary took some time to plan, but from the beginning it had a clear objective: that the Basque club, a local and provincial reference in the area of sports, recuperates its function as a conveyor of Basque culture, as it was in the beginning.  That is why organizers invited Mikel Ezkerro, on the club’s birthday, to give an introduction to Euskal Herria with a talk entitled, “The Mystery of the Basques.”

Prior to the talk, there was a ceremony without precedent, where the standard bearers of the institution were welcomed in a perfectly adorned room with Basque motifs.  Later, the national anthem was sung and a member of the board of directors, Laura de Aguirre, addressed those present with a few words about the history of Euzko Txokoa.

Afterwards, two plaques were unveiled commemorating the anniversary that will hang from now on in the hall at the Euzko Txoakoa.  One, a gift from the town, and the other was created by a local artist that represents the club’s 50th anniversary logo in wood.  In addition to this recognition of the club’s life, local founding members were also recognized.  Families of these people received gifts from the current board of directors.  A lunch was then provided to those present.  The anniversary activities continued the next day, March 1, with a local Pelota Tournament.
