Children up to the age of 12 returned last Saturday to the Euskal Echea College in Llavallol this year to celebrate the 20th edition of the Txikis Gathering organized by FEVA. During the entire day, children from the various clubs enjoyed various activities related to the Basque culture and once again met the event’s goal: to create promote and strengthen the relationship between the Basque clubs and its youngest members.

Llavallol, Argentina.   The event was held last Saturday, and it should be noted that such an event requires a lot of preparation not only by its organizers, but also on the part of the children who participate.  Every year children bring an activity carried out at the respective clubs, and this year they brought along a mural with drawings of Basque dance to exchange with other clubs, and a kite with the colors of the Ikurriña.

Activities began early in the morning and ran all day long with wonderful weather to complement the program that included: a reception of the delegations, breakfast, team building, circuit of eleven challenges, kite flying, lunch, dancing and singing, mural exchange, snack, awards and souvenirs and the conclusion with everyone dancing to “Gora Behera.”

Organized by FEVA, this year’s event was attended by 300 children from various clubs, accompanied by six dozens aides also from various clubs who were in charge of coordinating and accompanying the children.  Another hundred or so helpers helped with other tasks, and especially in the kitchen.  This year’s numbers truly reflect the interest and commitment that clubs have for this activity.

FEVA also stressed the attendance of board members from the Euskal Echea School at the Topaketa and especially highlighted, “the commitment of clubs to the event preparation, their active presence and the availability of all the children who enjoyed the gathering.”
