The team from Canada won the 40th World Mus Championships in Chino, California

The team from Canada, Patxi Altuna and Rufino Iribarren won the 40th World Mus Championships yesterday in Chino, CA.  Second place went to the Euskadi 2 team, Marin Begiristain and Javier Gabarain, while third place went the French team of Michel Larramendy and Jean Michel Sinde.  Remember that the World Mus Championships were hosted last in San Francisco, and then moved to Chino.  After the competition was over, muslaris and their companions then had the opportunity to participate in Chino’s Annual Basque Picnic.  The 2018 World Championships will take place in Macachin, Argentina. 

Chino, CA, USA.  The tournament took place in the usual friendly atmosphere, with this year’s games taking place in San Francisco and Chino, with the collaboration of both Basque clubs, and organized by the North American Basque Organizations along with the International Mus Association.  The finals of the 40th World Mus Championships took place yesterday in Chino, and were won by the team from Canada, Patxi Altuna and Rufino Iribarren; with second place going to the second team from Euskadi, Martin Begiristain and Javier Gabarain, with Michel Larramendy and Jean Michel Sinde representing France coming in third.

Next year’s World Mus Tournament will take place in Macachin, Argentina in the Pampa thanks to the local Basque club, Union Vasca Euzko Alkartasuna.  Tentative dates are September 22-October 1, 2018.
