The Euzko Txokoa Basque Club in Gral. Acha stands out for its sporty side.  Among the sports it promotes, swimming is the one that has grown the most thanks to the staff at the “Ceriva,” Swimming School created as part of the club.  The school has two priorities: to train swimmers for competition and to provide a community of benefits of activities that link swimming to good health.  At both levels, the Swimming School has managed to rank among the best in the province.

Gral. Acha, Argentina.   After carrying out updating works, the heated pool at the Euzko Etxea in Gral. Acha opened in December 2012.  Since then, swimming is one of the main sporting activities that the club provides the community.  Managed by the Ceriva Swimming School, the pool is used to train swimmers for competition, as well as recreational activities, including a place for treatments and rehabilitation.

In regards to recreational activities, beginning on July 10th for two weeks, will be used as part of the Children’s Winter Camp for children between the ages of 4 and 11.  At the end of camp, on July 22nd, there will be a Master Class of Water Aerobics open to the community.

Health

Among the proposals related to health, on June 24 and 25, the pool was the site of a water psychomotor class.  These were taught by Rodolfo Sangla, and were attended by nearly 30 people.

Swimmer Training

In regards to swimmer training the Ceriva School is not far behind, and participates in both regional and local tournaments.  In May, the Basque team competed in the National Youth Tournament, attended by the top swimmers from 120 clubs.  During 2017, club swimmers also participated in the Argentine Masters Championship, in Mar del Plata, the “interclub” tournament in Patagonia held in Gral. Roca (Rio Negro) at the Roca Sporting Club; and the Republic Championship, held January 24-27 at the Kempes Stadium in Cordoba.

“All of these activities and achievements are possible thanks to the repairs and improvements made to the pool, as of March of this year, as well as raising the floor, and repainting,” club sources said.  “It should also be noted that there are few swimming schools in la Pampa that has a self-paced children’s swimming program that allows each to progress at their own rate.  A program with trained professionals.  A work team that aims to transmit security, commitment and opportunities for all,” they emphasized.
