Tandil, Argentina.   Gure Etxea Basque Club joined in the intense activity that is taking place in many clubs in the country in preparation for the National Mus Tournament.  After the games played last Friday, Carlos Rodriguez and Hernan Alzueta will represent the Tandil club at the Nationals in Argentina that will take place in Chacabuco on June 16-18.  Remember that the winners at the national level will represent Argentina at the World Mus Tournament to be held in the United States.

Music at the Jantoki

It is common practice for Basque clubs and communities where they settle to promote mutual relationships where the clubs participate in city events, while opening their doors to their neighbors.  In this case, the Gure Etxea will be the site of the shows “Women in Concert.”  The recitals will take place in the Jantoki where the audience will also be able to enjoy a menu prepared by the club sukaldaris.  The dates for the recitals are, July 1, August 12, and September 2.  “Women in Concert,” is celebrating its third edition this year and gathers fourteen local artists including singers and musicians of various styles and trajectories.

April Activities

The Gure Etxea houses a strong group of sukaldaris that is in charge of dinners, the “pintxo afariak” and food sales at community events.  This group is always ready to go beyond and also organizes gastronomic workshops.  The first this year was held on April 29 and was taught by Marcos Castillon (sukaldari and club member) and his brother Federico.  The menu included breaded eggplant stuffed with ham and cheese, salad, oranges and chocolate.  They also explained how to prepare a paella, and finally prepared dessert with apples and chocolate pancakes with cream or berries.

Also in April, on the 26th, the Basque Club commemorated the Bombing of Gernika with a minute of silence and laying wreath at the offspring of the Basque Oak.
