Four dantzaris and a txistulari from the Ortzadar group will be in charge of the workshops from February 3-10 for representatives of Navarrese centers in Argentina.  By the end of 2018, the club foresees the meeting of Navarrese centers in the country, with Uxue Barkos potentially attending herself.  In the words of Raul Osvaldo Amatriain, president of the center in Rosario who told EuskalKultura.com: “When I met with the authorities in Navarre, I asked them for cultural support and I was very well-received.”

Rosario, Argentina.   After some years without them, in 2018 the folklore workshops of dancing and txistu taught by dantzaris and musicians from Navarre will come back to Argentina, taught by the group Ortzadar for Navarrese clubs in Argentina.  This time they will take place February 3-10 at the Navarrese facilities in Rosario with the participation of eight representatives of each of the active clubs in the country, including centers in Mendoza, Bolivar, Buenos Aires, and the local one.

The club is also getting ready to host the “Meeting of Navarrese Collectivities in the Argentine Republic,” at the end of 2018. The date is yet to be confirmed but the hosting club’s president told EuskalKultura.com that they are thinking on the first week of December.  Raul Osvaldo Amatriain also said that there is a possibility for Uxue Barkos, President of the Government of Navarre to join.

In regards to the regular activities, the club will continue in 2018 its dance classes, its txistu lessons, peña meetings and friendly gatherings.  As every year, there will be a special San Fermin celebration, and they will also participate in community festivals, and will also organize a Basque Pilota Tournament at the fronton Reyno de Navarre located in the town of Funes.  This last event will take place the first week of December, with pala corta and pilota de cuero with international players.

Along with that, Raul Osvaldo Amatriain explained that it was a good year in which they can see some results.  “Possibly the evaluation should be done by another club member, and not me, but what I can say is that I tried to resume some things that we had left behind.  On my trip to Navarre for San Fermin Txiki I was able to meet with Government authorities like President Uxue Barkos and with Pamplona Mayor Joseba Asiron.  Even if there have been important cuts to the budget over the last few years, we still requested cultural support.  Fortunately, economically our club is self-sufficient; but cultural support is essential for us.  Both the proposal and February workshops were very well-attended, as well as our gathering in December,” the lehendakari said.

Looking towards the future, Amatrian reinforced his interest of working so that the club in Rosario could have its own space where they can live together respecting everyone’s differences “as they do in Navarre.” “What will never change,” he said,” is our goal to maintain and spread the customs of the Foral Community.”
