The Navarrese executive adopted an agreement at its session yesterday that authorizes the lease of an apartment in Brussels, close to the European Parliament and the Committee of Regions, which will be used as the headquarters of the Office of the Delegation of the Government of Navarre.  Recuperating an office in this way will give Navarre a voice in Europe and in the international environment, as indicated by government sources.

Brussels, Belgium.   As the charter recalls, the Government Delegation in Brussels had its own premises from 2002 to December 2012, when a general protocol of collaboration between the Government of Navarre and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Spain was signed to transfer the Delegation to the premises of the Spanish Permanent Representation (REPER).

Nevertheless, the characteristics of this location limited the number of visits and meetings that could be organized by the Navarran delegation.  In the same way, the shortage of space limited the incorporation of technical personnel, or interns.

That is why, now it is considered necessary to move to its own locale, with enough space in a suitable place.  The building is located on Rue de Pascale, 169, just 200 meters from the European Parliament and the Committee of Regions.  It is located on the first floor of the building and is 78 square meters, with the possibility of using two meeting rooms located on the bottom floor.

The lease price is 1,200 Euros a month (14,400 annually), far from the budget of 21,000 Euros allocated in 2014.  The contract is for 9 years, with the possibility of waiving the expiration date every three years, with at least six months’ notice, as indicated in the note from the Government.

In this way, the Government of Navarre recuperates its own office in Brussels, just like it had between 2002 and 2012, when it moved to the REPER headquarters.  In this regard, it should be recalled that following the complaint of the owner of the old locale for breach of contract, the Government of Navarre had to pay 196,935 Euros.
