For the fourth year in a row, the Euskal Juarez group represented the Basques in activities held in the city of Benito Juarez to celebrate another edition of the Day of the Immigrant.  With the motto “Children for a World of Diversity,” and as part of the commemoration, Euskal Juarez was one of the participants in the Static Collectivities Exhibit, exhibited at the local J.J. Bernal Torres Library. 

Benito Juarez, Argentina.   They don’t hold any other significant activities throughout the year, but come September, the Euskal Juarez group in Benito Juarez in the Province of Buenos Aires, always is ready to represent the Basque community at the Day of the Immigrant activities.  The 2016 edition was held at the local J.J. Bernal Torres Library that organized a Static Collectivities Exhibit, inaugurated on September 3 at the library.

As Maria Elena Haedo, member of the group told EuskalKultura.com, with the title, “Children for a World of Diversity,” exhibit theme was childhood and how customs have changed from the time of immigrant children till now.” 

With the exhibit inaugurated, representatives from the participating communities – Argentina, Chile, Italy, Japan, Greece, Syria, Denmark, and the Basque Country joined in a toast.

Tribute to Deceased Immigrants        

According to the program of activities, on Sunday September 5 there was a commemorative event in tribute to deceased immigrants.  The event was held at the Monument of Immigrants, at the local cemetery.  There was a wreath laying, along with the presence of all of the flags from the various countries.
