The Euskal Etxea in Cuba celebrates International Women’s Day and announces a week of Aberri Eguna at the end of the month

The Euskal Etxea in Cuba – the Basque-Navarrese Charity Association of Havana, will celebrate International Women’s Day this afternoon.  They also announced that it will carry out a Cultural Week at the end of March in conjunction with Aberri Eguna, inviting Basques and friends of Basque who live there, or who may be there visiting, to join them Monday March 26-Sunday April 1st.

Havana, Cuba.   The Cuban Basque Club will commemorate International Women’s Day this afternoon “with a toast accompanied with a flower and a card dedicated to each woman.  Entertainment will be provided by singers, recorded Cuban and Basque music and a presentation of our dance group, “Arima.” This event will take place on Thursday, March 8th at 4pm, at the provisional clubhouse located at (Gervasio No. 615 between Reina and Estrella, Centro Habana, Havana, Cuba,” Renato Garcia, club president told EuskalKultura.com.

Garcia also announced that in the month of March, as part of its Aberri Eguna celebrations, “as we have done since 2014, the club has envisioned a Cultural Week.  It will begin on March 26th with a meeting of Basque students and the board of directors, and Basque friends who may be visiting.  It will take place in our ikastola located at our provisional clubhouse at 5pm.”

“On Wednesday, March 28th at 2pm we will present our group of artists and artisans “Sustrai,” mixing with members and friends who are visiting; and all in an ambience of music, and pintxos for the occasion.”

On Friday, March 30th, the event will be at 3pm.  “Our friend and member Jose Miguel Arrugaeta, will give us a talk, as requested by our members, that he gave last year on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the foundation of our association, again at our temporary clubhouse accompanied by our txiki dancers from our group “Arima.”

Everyone is invited to each of these activities, "all Basques and friends who are visiting Cuba for the occasion. We are also reserving Tuesday 27 and Thursday 29 in case, as usual, in case any of our visitors would like to share any issue related to our Basque homeland, dedicate a conference, film screening, etc.,” the club president concluded.
