The Eduardo Chillida Chair has been part of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe Universität in Frankfurt since 2013, and aims to promote the study specialized in the research of Basque art by inviting an expert annually to teach classes on various topics to its students.  This year’s program is speeding along, being taught by expert in theory and history of contemporary art, Tobias Voght with activities in both Frankfurt and Berlin.

Frankfurt, Germany. According to the Etxepare Basque Institute, seminars are being taught in two blocks, one in Frankfurt on the last two weekends, January 13-14 and January 201-21, and the other in Berlin, on the next two weekends, January 27-28 and February 2-4, with the corresponding theory classes with outings in both cities.  The program is an invitation to reflect on the role of art in public space, making, in this case, a comparison between both cities.

One of the courses that Voght teaches to university students is introduction to contemporary sculpture.  The course is divided into four excursions through the German cities to observe, describe and analyze urban sculpture, on the basis of sculptor from Donostia, Eduardo Chillida.  On the other hand, he is teaching specialized courses to masters students, where they will work on concepts, and artistic methods since 1900 analyzing the works of great sculptures.

Tobias Voght is an expert in art history and his line of research covers different themes: the relationship between work and image, artistic production in contemporary art, the historiography of art and the verification of artistic works through contracts and certificates.
