The World Mus Championships will take place this year in Argentina, in the city of Mar del Plata organized by the local Denak Bat Basque club.  The 38th edition of the competition will run for a week where participants will not only play cards, but also have the opportunity to visit and get to know some of the more touristic destinations in the area. 

Mar del Plata, Argentina.   As the Basque club has announced in Mar del Plata, the 2015 World Mus Championships will take place there with muslaris coming from various countries in the diaspora.  The event will begin on October 31 and will not only be a competition, but also an opportunity to participate in other activities, such as visits, enjoying local cuisine, tours, meetings, a dinner dance and a going away party at the Basque club.  See complete program here.

The organizing club has also announced that along with the Championships, there will be another parallel tournament that will take place from November 1-7 aimed at everyone who travels along with the muslaris; and another on the weekend of November 6-8, this one, as Martin Lahittette told EuskalKultura.com, “aims at gathering friends from Argentina that want to come to Mar del Plata for the weekend.”

Local Tournament

Argentine Basque clubs are holding their own tournaments prior to the event to choose the team that will represent each at the National Tournament that will take place in La Plata on August 15-17.  The winner of this tournament will represent Argentina at the World Championships in Mar del Plata.  Following the model of previous years, the winners of this 38th edition is automatically qualified to participate in the 2016 world championships with travel and stay included.  

Remember that last world championships were held in Cancun, Mexico (2014); Santiago, Chile (2013); Vancouver, Canada, (2012); Angelu-Anglet, Basque Country (2011) and Las Vegas, NV - USA (2010).
