Five stamps featuring UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Canada have been released, declaring their importance to world history and heritage.  One of these features Red Bay Basque Whaling Station, on the south coast of Labrador.  These five now complete the odyssey of Canadian UNESCO sites.  

Ottawa, Canada.  Five stamps that feature five places in Canada that have special status “because of their importance to the common heritage of humanity, have recently been released by the Canadian Post Office. 

Three of these are making their debut and feature: Mistaken Point (N.L.), the Historic District of Old Québec (Que.) and L’Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site (N.L.), while Dinosaur Provincial Park (Alta.) and Red Bay Basque Whaling Station (N.L.) are enjoying an encore.

Red Bay Basque Whaling Station was selected for being the “most complete and extensive example of 16th-century Basque whaling station in North America. 

The stamps, designed by Lara Minja at Lime Design, Inc. come in books of various quantities, or even in sheets.  Information on each of these sites is available here
