The Basque Culture conference that is organized annually by the Basque University in Buenos Aires (UVBA) at the Congressional Library of the Nation is celebrating its fourth edition this year.  The event will be held from August 21-September 2 and will provide a program of workshops and Basque films. At the same time, there will also be an art exhibit so organizers also invite artists to present their work.  The UVBA will accept pieces through June 30.

Buenos Aires, Argentina.   With Marité Echegoyen as the main organizer, the group known as the Basque University in Buenos Aires invites everyone to the Conference that will take place, for the fourth year consecutively in the National Congressional Library located at Alsina 1835 in the neighborhood of Balvanera in Buenos Aires.  The Conference will begin on Friday August 21 with an inaugural ceremony and will conclude on September 2 with the second and last day of film.  There will be activities every day from 6-8pm and admission is free and open to the public.

The inauguration will be attended by Kanky Kozameth Ortiz, who will sing Gernikako Arbola accompanied by the Euskaltzaleak choir.  The Euskaltzaleak dance group will then perform doing a selection of Basque dances.  Once the program opens, there will be sessions on film presented by Carlos Gabilondo who will present Loreak by Jon Garaño and Jose Mari Goenaga; and Asier eta Biok by Amaia and Aitor Merino.  Screenings will take place on Wednesday the 26th of August and on September 2nd.

The event will also include four workshops on Basque culture, two each day, that will be taught by specialists in each area.  During the conference the UVBA will also organize an art exhibit that will be open on the same dates and times.  Organizers invite Basque artists, linked to Basque clubs or not, to present their work.  “Anyone wishing to exhibit should get in touch with us so they can fill out the required paperwork,” organizers explained to EuskalKultura.com.  The deadline is June 30 and they can do so through Facebook.
