Sponsored by the city government, and organized by the Laurak Bat, “Buenos Aires Celebrates the Basque Country 2015,” took place last Sunday, May 10.  More than twenty thousand people visited the event making this “the most successful edition of the festival,” as Laurak Bat Basque Club’s president, Arantxa Anitua, told EuskalKultura.com.

Buenos Aires, Argentina.   Residents of the capital enjoyed an excellent opportunity to be introduced to the Basque culture and a wonderful atmosphere last Sunday.  This was the goal of “Buenos Aires Celebrates the Basque Country,” and so Laurak Bat once again organized it with the collaboration of another 20 Basque clubs, institutions, and businesses displaying Argentina’s rich Basque legacy.

In Arantxa Anitua's words, “Sunday was spectacular.  People were happy and the event was well-covered.  Besides introducing people to the folklore and Basque culture, it also seems to me that we entered into deeper topics: the Gure Esku Dago initiative, providing information on law suits brought against the Franco regime, as well as the information about Basque prisoners….These topics are being addressed in a positive light and that is also a good thing.”

On the Avenida de Mayo, next door to the Casa Rosada, the program of activities included a large range of cultural events that took place on two stages on the Street, in front of the stands.  Following is a photo chronicle of the 4th “Buenos Aires Celebrates the Basque Country.”
