Arrecifes, Argentina. The exhibit “Transforming Looks” puts together Emakunde’s campaigns, the Basque Institute for Women, over the last 30 years as part of the International Day of the Woman.  The exhibit will be displayed at the Euskaldunak Denak Bat Basque Club in Arrecifes through November 7th.  To inaugurate the exhibit, the club invited Paula Basaldua, Executive Director of the Ekitatea organization in Argentina and a specialist in gender issues, to give a talk entitled, “Gender Equality on the Agenda.  Advances to Eliminate Sexist Violence.”

According to Basaldua, “the event aroused great interest in the audience, since situations that local women are going through and the challenges to remove cultural barriers that sustain discrimination.”

During her visit, Basaldua also visited with the Director of Culture and Education, Stella Maris Arzuaga.

[Remember that Basque clubs may request talks from Ekitatea through FEVA, as they are part of the Federations’ cultural programming.  For more information visit their Facebook page Ekitatea or email ekitateaorganizacion@gmail.com]
