The 2018 NABO Convention will kick off tomorrow this year's US central Basque Festival, in Winnemucca, Nevada

Basque weekend beginning tomorrow in Winnemucca, Nevada. The 2018 NABO Convention will kick off the weekend program. Beginning at 7:30am, delegates from the US and Canada Basque associations and clubs that make up NABO will meet at their Annual Convention, which, among other points, will hold elections for a new president. In the afternoon, the beginning of a full festival program, with music, dance, food, contests, exhibitions and a full Basque program.

Winnemucca, NV. This year the NABO Convention has been earlier than usual, since it usually happens during the months of July or August. The Vonvention itself, that gathers delegates of the Basque clubs that make up the federation from all over the USA and Canada with begin on Friday at 7:30am, with the goal of concluding it by noon. In the afternoon, the festivities will be celebrated according to the program that we collect below, with dancing on Friday and Saturday nights under the rhythm of the American-American accords of the band Amerikanuak, led by Jean Flesher. This is the weekend program:

Friday, June 8

-7:30am NABO Delegate Meeting at the Convention Center - East Hall
-1:30pm NABO Jr. Mus Tournament - Convention Center - East Hall
-7:00pm “Etxea: Memoirs of Gernika” performance by Ardi Baltza Kontalari in coordination with Xabier Irujo - Convention Center West Hall
-Public Dance to follow performance. Jean Flesher's Amerikanuak band will play at Ormacheas

Saturday, June 9

-8:00am - 5K run/walk - Vesco Park
-10:30am Festival Parade - Start at Model T Casino (goes north up Winnemucca Blvd.)
-12:00pm Opening ceremony & festivities begin - Convention Center - East & West Halls & Nixon Lawn
-6:30pm-midnight - Public Dance. Music by Jean Flesher's Amerikanuak and the local band Decoy. Elko's Ardi Baltza

Sunday, June 10

-9:00am Mass - Convention Center - East Hall or Nixon Lawn (depending on weather)
-9am-12pm Basque Breakfast - Convention Center West Hall
-11.00am-5:00pm Performances & presentations, etc
