The Jose C. Paz Basque club turned 19 and celebrated, as usual, with a gigantic paella for members, and friends at the Jose Altube Artisans Club.  However, the food wasn’t the main attraction of the day with two dantzaris from Toki Eder performing their version of Agurra. 

Jose C. Paz, Argentina.   Invited by Toki Eder, more than two hundred guests attended the birthday celebration of the Basque club in Jose C. Paz, in the province of Buenos Aires.  The festivities took place on June 14 and gathered representatives of various activities that the club carries out, including Basque students and teachers, dantzaris and workshop participants.

During lunch, that consisted of a huge traditional paella the members of the club also had the opportunity to elect their new 'mayor' for 2015-2016.  After the votes were counted, the honor fell on Martin Sanchez, “big collaborator and exemplary club member.” During lunch, guests also joined in a toast and sang “Zorionak Zuri.”

But, without a doubt, one of the most emotional moments was in the afternoon thanks to dantzaris, Agustina Olaizola and Raquel Pino who performed their version of the “Agurra” dances and singing it a capela.  “All the guests were surprised by the beautiful melody.  At first the MC read the lyrics in Spanish and then the dance of honor was accompanied by the beautiful voice of Raquel,” Maria Angeles Oñederra told EuskalKultura.com (see video here). The party went into the afternoon with more music, dance and song.
