The Basque-Argentine Diaspora is getting ready once again for its huge annual festival that will take place this year in La Plata from November 1-9.  The provisional festival program, that EuskalKultura.com was able to access, promises an intense week with a variety of activities that will include dances, evenings, talks and activities from Euskera to the new Agro-Industrial Exhibit. 

La Plata, Argentina.  Only a month left before the Semana Nacional Vasca Argentina 2014 and members of the La Plata Basque club are finalizing the last details before the starting gun on November 1st. Even if we are presenting a preliminary program, there are some things that are left TBA, but the times and places of the main events are definite.  The most intense activity will begin on the morning of the 7th with a political dialogue meeting that will take place at the Chamber of Deputies and will conclude on Sunday night with the farewell dinner that will take place at the Republica de los Niños.  Here is the detailed program.

Saturday November 1

-10 to 15hs, Hockey meeting / Children’s soccer. Place: Las Banderitas soccer field.
-18:30hs, Book presentation Basque Homeland in Argentina by Professor Magdalena Mignaburu. Place: Microcine. “Islas Malvinas” Cultural Center
-19:30hs, Inauguration of Semana Nacional Vasca. Addresses by various authorities. Aurresku and Fandango, with choir accompaniment. Place: Main patio at the “Islas Malvinas” Cultural Center. (In case of rain: in the cultural center’s auditorium).
-20:00hs, Inauguration of the exhibit of typical Basque clothing by Magdalena Mignaburu. Place: The SUM room at the “Islas Malvinas” Cultural Center
-21:00hs, Cocktail. Place: Main Gallery and patio at the del Centro Cultural “Islas Malvinas” Cultural Center

Sunday November 2

-17:00hs, Exhibit of indoor soccer for the blind. Place: Main field in the park at “Islas Malvinas”

Monday November 3

Tuesday November 4

-Conference and presentation of the book  Essay on the Essay  by Basque writer Fito Rodríguez. Address by Judith Martirena, Dani Oiarbide and Sara Pagola, among others. TBA

Wednesday November 5

-18 to 21hs, Pelota Tournament/Exhibition (Goma, Mano, Xare). Place: Basque club trinquete
-18 to 20:30hs, Introductory talk: “The path of Basque Cinema, 1895-2013.” Screening of the film Kutsidazu bidea, Ixabel (Show me the Way, Isabel), by Fernando Bernués and Mireia Gabilondo.
