Last year in Necochea the Tamborrada was accompanied by the Municipal Band. The Basque club children also participated by playing on wooden tablets that were given to them by the Gaztelubide Society from Donostia (photoNechocheaEE).

The sounds of the Tamborrada will begin this year in Paris and New York where the respective Basque clubs have invited members and friends to celebrate tomorrow.  Once the party begins there will be no rest through all of next week.  Of course, in Azpeitia and Donostia, the place it was originated, but also in Madrid, Barcelona, Arrecifes, Necochea (where the Donostia festival is a major event that includes an entire week of activities), Caracas, Murcia, Mexico, Valladolid, Shanghai….

Donostia-San Sebastian. In Donostia and Azpeitia everyone is anxiously awaiting the big day, this moment when on midnight on Monday the 19th when the flag is raised and sound of the San Sebastian March initiates a 24-hours of uninterrupted drums playing the Tamborrada.  These are their major festivals.  In some places in the Diaspora, nevertheless, the festival will be pushed up a few hours, to tomorrow Saturday the 17th. That is what they will do in Paris, for example at the Eskual Etxea, just like the Eusko Etxea of New York where Tamborrada will also be celebrated tomorrow at the clubhouse in Brooklyn.

On Monday, just as in Donostia and Azpeitia, Basque clubs in Madrid and Barcelona will spend the time prior to midnight with dinner and celebrating, waiting for the party to explode.  In Madrid, as every year, they will have dinner at the Jai Alai restaurant and at midnight the Danborrada of the Euskal Etxea will entertain those present with their sounds.  In Barcelona, the party in Donostia will be followed live on television thanks to the International Channel of the Basque TV and then the Tamborrada being played at the txoko.

On the same day, but in Arrecifes, the Euskadunak Denak Bat Basque club of this Argentine city has invited its members to attend wearing blue and white for a party with music, dance and their own Tamborrada.

On Tuesday, San Sebastian Day, Necochea, Argentina will also join in on the festivities.  The Basque club will celebrate an entire week of activities that will begin the 20th with mass, followed by a Tamborrada parade through the city streets.

The party will run in the Diaspora until next weekend with the Caracas Eusko Etxea celebrating its Tamborrada on Saturday the 24th.  The Mexico City Basque club is also noted for its celebration where they are expecting 200 people for dinner on Saturday. Dinner will be followed by a Tamborrada being played under the direction of veteran Alfredo Jover.  In China, The Shanghai Basque club has also organized a celebratory dinner with its corresponding Tamborrada.

In Necochea, Saturday the 24th will be the big day. It will be celebrated with dinner and dancing at the Basque club.  The new club mayor will be chosen at the event, He or she will be in charge of hoisting the Donostia flag, to the sounds of the Tamborrada.  After dinner there will be a Basque dance workshop for everyone thanks to dantzari Patxi Perez, who just arrived from the Basque Country.

Members of the Gure Txokoa Basque club in Valladolid will also celebrate on Saturday.  Their program includes dinner with gulas for lack of angulas (baby eels, a traditional dish for this day in Donostia) followed by the club's Tamborrada.

To complete this summary, Madrid will play the Tamborrada Txiki (kid's danborrada) in front of the Basque club at noon.  This will be followed by the club’s choir singing the San Sebastian March at the church of Saint Ignatius, where the Tamborrada will honor RCNOTPV Basque association of Madrid that is celebrating the 300th anniversary of its founding.

The Euskal Etxea in Murcia will also celebrate on Sunday the 25 with a meal and Tamborrada.
