San Fermin 2015 is almost here and the Diaspora in Argentina is ready to launch their rockets

The calendar already says July and social media is covered in white and red a sign that San Fermin, one of the festivals that is celebrated most internationally, is almost here. In Argentina, the festivities will begin this weekend and will run through the next, following a program provided below. 

Buenos Aires, Argentina.   The feel of San Fermin is already in the air in the Diaspora, including Argentina, where from the Atlantic to the Andes Basque and Navarran clubs have prepared various activities.  The events are varied and for all tastes; so if you want to participate in Pamplona's largest festival, put on your neckerchief and find the festival closest to you from the list below.

Arrecifes, Euskaldunak Denak Bat.   This year Basques in Arrecifes will celebrate on July 8 starting at 9:30pm.  Dinner will include pea soup, chicken and rice and baked apples.  The cost is $80 (beverages not included).  There will be music, dance and singing.  The club invites everyone to dress in red and white.

Ayacucho, Euskal Odola. On July 7th there will be mass at the Chapel of the Colegio de Hermanas; on July 18th, the morning will begin with Alegre Despertar (Wake up happy) that the club will dedicate to two of its members.  That night there will be dinner with the club’s dance group and recognition of persons who participate selflessly in the club.  

Bolivar, Centro Navarro.  As part of its San Fermin festivities, the Navarran club in Bolivar will organize its traditional Mus Tournament on Friday July 10th.  On Saturday the 11th, there will be dinner featuring homemade chorizo.

Buenos Aires, Laurak Bat.  The Basque club on Avenida Belgrano will celebrate on July 10th along with Argentina’s Independence Day with a bar and Basque-Argentine songs.

Buenos Aires, Centro Navarro.  Two invitations come this year from the club.  On the one hand, on Saturday July 4th at noon there will be a San Fermin Taberna called by the club’s youth.  During the afternoon there will be music, dance by the txikis and the showing of the final of the America Cup.  Cost will be $25.  On July 9th at 12:30 there will be a traditional ceremony with a txupinazo and dances in the streets followed by a banquet. The Andayna Folk Iberico will also perform.  Cost $220.

Buenos Aires, Euskaltzaleak.   The Euskaltegi will celebrate San Fermin with a Topaketa on Friday July 17th starting at 8pm with the documentary The Four Seasons. Following the film there will be food to share.

Comodoro Rivadavia, Euskal Echea.  The Patagonian club will carry out a program with various activities on July 12th.  There will be entertainment events alluding to San Fermin, a performance by the choir and dancers, presentation of the Queen of the community that will represent the club at the Federation of Foreign Communities and at all events during the 21015/2016 term.  There will also be videos and photos shown on San Fermin, lunch (pintxos and paella, dessert and beverages).  The event will run through the afternoon with dancing and kalejiras.

La Plata, Euzko Etxea.  In the city of diagonals, the San Fermin festivities will take place on July 12th.  They will begin at 11:30am with mass at the Church of Guadalupe and afterwards there will be dancing in the plaza on the corner of 58 and 14, with cabezudos created at the workshop organized by the library.  At 1pm the Mayor, Mr. Pedrito Berrueta will launch the Txupinazo and later there will be lunch with a choir performances, and dancing by the club’s group.  There will also be chocolate and cakes and a dance.

Mendoza, Centro Navarro.   The festivities will take place on July 12 at 12:30pm at the Casa Balear.  The choir and dancers will perform.

Olavarria, Gure Etxe Maitea.  To celebrate San Fermin in Olavarria they invited Magdalena Mignaburu who will give a talk and present her exhibit “Gure Arropa” (Our clothes).  The date is July 11, and at night, during dinner, Agustina Irastorza will present ceremonial Ikurriñas to representatives of Basque clubs in Azul, Junin and Olavarria.  Cristina Arregui, from Rosario, will also be present; along with Rosario Sosa from Junin and Silvia Iceta from Azul.

Rosario, Centro Navarro.   The program will last for a week beginning on July 3 at 19:30 with a cultural event followed by dinner at the peñas.  On Saturday, July 4 at 11am tribute will be paid to deceased members at the Plazoleta Navarra; at 1pm there will be a txupinazo followed by listening to Horizonte Español on the radio.  At 1:3pm lunch will be served and the dantzaris and students from the Txistu School will perform at 6:30pm.  The 9pm dinner will be provided by Esteban Calabrese.  On July 5 at 10am there will be a kalejira to take guests to the Plaza 25 de Mayo, where the dancers will perform.  Mass will be at noon and at 1pm there will be lunch at the clubhouse.  On July 7, the event will begin at 8pm with the procession of San Fermin and later there will be dinner provided by the Dance groups.  On July 8 at 9:30pm there will be a traditional banquet with ham followed by a dance.  At 3am everyone will watch the encierro live on TV and then everyone present will enjoy garlic soup.  To end this year’s program, on July 9 at 4pm, there will be chocolate and churros and the dancers will perform. The festivities will close with singing Pobre de mi (Poor Me).

Tres Arroyos, Hiru Erreka.  The club in Tres Arroyos will celebrate San Fermin on Independence Day, July 11.  There will typical dishes from both countries.  The txiki dance group will also perform.
