The director of EuskalKultura.com is currently in Japan carrying out a series of talks in various forums about Euskal Herria and its Diaspora.  Tomorrow, Wednesday, the journalist from Donostia will give a presentation in the newly-opened Eneko Restaurant in Tokyo managed by Chef Eneko Atxa.  This will be followed by presentations at the University for Foreign Studies.  Previously, Etxarri visited the Euskal Etxea in Tokyo and the Asahi Cultural Center in Osaka.

Tokyo, Japan.   The first of the talks took place last Saturday at the prestigious and referential Japanese institution the Asahi Cultural Center, at the 18th floor of its headquarters in Osaka, a modern building in the city center.  As the rest of the talks in the series, Professor Sho Hagio did a general introduction in Japanese and then Etxarri took over who spoke in Basque, using Professor Hagio as his Basque-Japanese interpreter.

Last Monday, Etxarri visited the Txoko at the Tokyo Euskal Etxea where he met with club members, as well with various Japanese fans of Athletic Bilbao soccer team and members of the Tokiotarrak Peña, official of Athletic in Tokyo where he also spoke about the Basque Diaspora.

On Wednesday, also thanks to the Asahi Cultural Center, he will speak at the recently-opened Eneko Restaurant in Tokyo, run by Basque 3 Michelin star chef Eneko Atxa, at an event that has sold out.  Along with Sho Hagio, this talk will concentrate more on Basque gastronomy and more specifically on the cooking that is practiced in Basque communities around the world.

On Thursday, the event will take place at the University for Foreign Studies in Tokyo, where he wil first speak to students, followed by another presentation to students at the Etxepare Institute’s Lectureship, with more details to be confirmed.

Etxarri would like to thank Professor Sho Hagio for all of his work and effort in coordinating this visit and the series of talks, as well as his partners at the Asahi Cultural Center and all of the other institutions who have collaborated, and provided their support and confidence.
