For another year friends and members of Rhode Island Basque club gathered to celebrate the annual Festival where they enjoyed roasted pork Txitxiburduntzi style. The event brought together more than 100 Basques from the states of Rhode Island, Connecticut and New York that in addition to food provided an opportunity to enjoy an exhibition of Basque rural sports, herri kirolak. Among the activities were competitions between aizkolaris, harrijasotzailes, and txingas. The Basque club has published a photo essay of the day from which we have included some images.

Rhode Island.  More than 100 members of the Rhode Island Euskal Etxea attended the club’s traditional Txitxiburduntzi festival last Saturday, this year hosted by Riki Lasa.  The festival menu included a roasted pig prepared in the Txitxiburduntzi style by Chef Patxi Gandiaga.  Other plates on the menu were patata tortilla, txorizo, mixte salad and ensaladilla rusa.
