The Tandil Basque club faces the last months of 2016 with a loaded program of activities.  This Saturday they will host a traditional Pintxo Night/Basque Dinner.  In November they will host a delegation from the Euskal Argentina Group in the Basque Country and will also participate in the Semana Nacional Vasca.  On December 3^rd they will end the year by celebrating International Euskera Day in conjunction with the club’s anniversary. 

Tandil, Argentina.  Last Sunday was Mother’s Day in Argentina and to pay tribute to the mothers, the Gure Etxea Basque Club will host next Saturday Oct 22nd a Pintxo Night/Basque Dinner where a group of friends will also present a repertoire of popular Basque songs.

In the home stretch of the year, in the beginning of November, the Basque club will host a group of Basques from Lower Navarre, members of the Euskal Argentina Association, from Iparralde.  To share local traditions with them, they will welcome their guests in the country, with a “very Argentine” BBQ and a show of local folklore.  After a welcome in the city, a delegation from Tandil will travel to Semana Nacioanl Vasca in Necochea along with these Basques.

According to club sources, during November there will also be a Basque Cooking Workshop aimed specifically at making pintxos and fish; and towards the end of the month the 67th anniversary of the club will be celebrated with a dance.  “The festivities, coincide with the International Day of Euskera, and will also include the participation of various Basque club representatives as our guests,” they said.

Festival of Collectivities

On September 17-18, the Tandil Festival of Collectivities took place at the University Cultural Center.  As every year, the Gure Etxea Basque Club represented the Basque community and did so doubly.  On the one hand, they had a stand with typical dishes, various pintxos, tripakiak, and gateau Basques, among others – and souvenirs.  On the other, dantzaris of all ages performed at the music and dance show.

The txikis opened the Basque performance with tamborrada and a version of “Diana.”  Later, they danced “Sorgin Dantza.”  The adults performed the San Sebastian March, danced by the txikis and followed with a compilation of traditional polkas.  To conclude, they all gathered for a Fandango.
