“Pilpileando Argentina 2015:” the gastronomic solidarity tour by Itziar Aguirre has a tentative program

“Pilpileando” aims to bring Basque cuisine to more and more people, but that is not its only objective.  Food has become an excellent excuse to call for the solidarity of the Basques and their capacity to help those in need.  Itziar Aguirre presents the provisional program of this year’s tour and asks participating Basque clubs to organize the master classes in public places, and make them open to the public. 

Rosario, Argentina.  As soon as “Pilpileando Argentina 2015” was announced, Itziar Aguirre received a number of requests to be included in her gastronomic solidarity tour all over the country. The list is extensive, but her tour has made an effort to include all requests.  According to Aguirre, if all of them can’t be accommodated this year, they will be included in next year’s program.

“Pilpileando Argentina” will begin  this year at the end of May and will run through December after makeing 15 stops throughout all of Argenitna.  Just a few of the dates are yet to be confirmed, but following is the tentative tour program:

-May: Saturday 30 and Sunday 21 in Buenos Aires and La Plata

-June: Mendoza and San Juan

-Julio: Cañuelas and Las Heras

-August:  Saladillo and Azul

-September:  Arrecifes, Pergamino and Parana

-October:  Bahia Blanca and Coronel Pringels

-November: Necochea

-December:  Sunday 13, Jose C. Paz-General Rodriguez; Saturday 5 or Sunday 6, Posadas

Aguirre stresses that even if Basque food is center-stage you shouldn’t lose site of the real goal of the event is solidarity that is why they ask participating Basque clubs to add the name of the local charity institution they will donate the money and contributions the activity will get from the public. 

When speaking to EuskalKultura.com, the Basque chef emphasizes the importance of extending the invitation to Pilpileando beyond the boundaries of the Basque community in order to include more people in this project of solidarity and suggests that each Basque club evaluate the possibilities of carrying out master classes in public places, plazas, amphitheaters… even inviting a local food reference to the event in each city.
