The concert took place at the National Library and was attended by more than 200 people who filled the hall to capacity.  At its Argentina debut, the Basque group was comprised of txalapartaris Harkaitz Martinez de San Vicente and Mikel Ugarte, with Mixel Ducau on the alboka.  They shared the stage with Argentine folklorist Silvia Iriondo. 

Buenos Aires, Argentina.   Even if they came at the end of November, this main concert by Oreka TX took place yesterday, December 14, in the Jorge Luis Borges Auditorium at the National Library.  More than 200 people attended including Basque musicians and representatives of Basque clubs from both the City and the Province of Buenos Aires, who enjoyed a show that has never been seen here before.

With images in the background from the documentary Nomadak TX, Harkaitz Martinez de San Vicente and Mikel Ugarte on the txalaparta and Mixel Ducau on the alboka, sax and guitar, took the audience on a tour that began in India and ended in South America with native rhythms also accompanied by Silvia Iriondo.  See video here.

During the show, the musicians expressed their excitement for their first concert tour in Argentina and thanked Silvia Iriondo who was the link for theis first trip, after they had shared a concert in Bilbao.  While in the area, the Basque musicians also offered txalaparta workshops at Euskaltzaleak in Buenos Aires; at Euzko Etxea in La Plata; and at Euzko Etxea in Necochea during their two-week stay.  They also taught two workshops at the Taberna Internacionalista Vasca and the Siete Octavos percussion school apart from those at the Basque clubs.
