St Pierre, St Pierre and Miquelon. This Monday marks the beginning of the Basque festival in St. Pierre and Miquelon.  The event takes place annually in mid-August, this year the 13^th-19^th, at the Fronton in St. Pierre.  During a week, from Monday to Sunday, there is a complete program of activities with a special focus on Basque sports, along with other recreational, festive and gastronomic activities.  Providing entertainment for the event is the musical group “Hiruak,” comprised of Jean-Louis Bergara, Battite Garat, and Beñat Chaubadindegui who travelled from the Basque Country to play traditional songs at the festival as reported previously by EuskalKultura.com.
