In a few months a very festive and participatory event, Korrika, will return to the Basque highways for the 19th time.  Korrika will begin in Urepele (Lower Navarre) on March 19th and will end in Bilbao on the 29th of the same month.  Even though it’s a long way off, many volunteers and runners from all over Euskal Herria have already started getting organized.  Korrika contacted EuskalKultura.com to make a special invitation to the Diaspora that has participated in prior editions as well raising awareness for Euskera making its claim all over the world.  Once again we are joining it and invite you to join in the race from London to Australia and from Quebec to Patagonia. Takin part is easy. Try it!

Bilbao, Bizkaia.  Euskahaldundu!  Is the motto of this year’s Korrika that is also a tribute to the Durango Book/Record Fair – Durangoko Azoka.  The race in favor of Euskera and in support of Euskaltegis will leave Urepel on March 19th, and will conclude in Bilbao on March 20th.

Organizers have contacted EuskalKultura.com to invite the Diaspora to participate this year as well.  Basque club participation gives more visibility to the race and mentioning it all over the world is something that is very important to the organizers and the Basque society as a whole.  Korrika invites Basque clubs to organized activities, and will provide materials like racing numbers, brochures, and posters for your events.

Anyone needing help, or having questions, should contact Klara Astondoa (klara.i-a@aek.org).

Korrika has already set up a website for this edition and will also share information via its Twitter, Facebook , Flick-r and Youtube accounts.
