Euskaltzaleak wil once again bring the group Maral, from Arrecifes, to Buenos Aires to share the stage with the Daltondarrak from Bizkaia.  The concert will provide the audience with a Basque repertoire where they will combine classic songs from Euskal Herria with covers by modern groups and artists.  Kantaldia will take place at the Casal de Catalunya and seats are numbered.

Buenos Aires, Argentina.   Pursuing its goal to conserve and diffuse Euskera, the Basque Language School in Buenos Aires doesn’t only teach classes but also takes advantage of other resources and activities to increase the visibility of the Basque language on this side of the Atlantic.  That is why, and to begin the second semester in fashion, it invites everyone to its first Kantaldia, music festival featuring invited groups as well as participants in various music, dance and choir workshops taught at the club.

Maral will perform its latest CD, “After Dinner Songs,” and will sing versions of songs like ‘Aitormena’, ‘Eperrak’ or ‘Lau teilatu’ with their local fans.  The people of Daltondarrak from Bizkaia will also sing their Basque rock songs and covers of classics in Basque.

There won’t only be music at the event organized by Euskaltzaleak; club cooks will also shine this time by preparing sandwiches, pintxos and fish empanadas and sea food.

Kantaldia will take place at the Casal de Catalunya, Chacabuco 863 (San Telmo) starting at 8:30pm, and tickets are limited and so should be reserved at euskaltzaleak@yahoo.com.ar.  Price of the event is $100 and includes one drink.  This event is part of the 25th anniversary festivities of Argentinan Euskaraz that is taking place through the end of the year across the country.

Daltondarrak in Argentina

The Bizkaian musicians Urdin, Joanes, Julen and Aratz came to Argentina for the first time thanks to contacts made with local youth during a Basque club concert tour in the province of Buenos Aires and the capital.  On July 31 they performed in Necochea as part of the San Inazio festivities at the local Euzko Etxea.

On August 14 and 15, they will perform at the Centro Vasco in La Plata, as part of the National Mus Championships.  Finally, their last concert will be in Buenos Aires, thanks to Euskaltzaleak.
