The Euskal Odola Basque Club in Ayacucho, Argentina has good news to share with all.  On the one hand, it announced that next Sunday, March 4th, it will inaugurate its new clubhouse, and on the other, next Friday it will host its famous Peña Vasca, organized every year as part of the National Calf Festival this year first edition in the club’s brand new facilities. 

Ayacucho, Argentina.   After years of paying rent and after a long construction process, remember that the land was acquired in 2012, the Euskal Odola Basque Club will open the doors of its new clubhouse this week.  Club president, Ignacio Echeverria, shared with EusalKutlura.com his satisfaction of the new headquarters that fulfills the requirements that the club put forth in order to carry out its functions.  “It has a large multi-purpose room 18 x 8 meters, as well as a kitchen, an office and two bathrooms...  We still have some finish work to do but we will complete those once we are moved in.  What we have now is enough to inaugurate the locale,” he said.

City authorities will also accompany the Basques at the inauguration, along with club members, frineds and neighbors.  The event will take place on Sunday, March 4th at 7pm (Sucre 1146).  The program will begin with addresses and an Aurresku by the club’s dantzaris.  After the ribbon cutting there will be a cocktail served inside. 

National Calf Festival

The 46th edition of the National Calf Festival will run March 11-18.  As the Basque club of Ayacucho will participate in this popular festival, this year on Friday the 9th organizing its traditional Peña Vasca, and by opening its doors for the queen candidates’ parade when they will be presented for the first time in front of the public.

It will be the first time that the Peña Vasca will meet in the brand new club facilities.

Among the 24 queen candidates is Catalina Jaime, who will represent the Basque community.
