Thanks to the Juan de Garay Foundation, FEVA and Eusko Jaurlaritza, the Basque community will once again participate at the end of this month in the Buenos Aires Book Fair, which has reached its 39th year. With this year’s motto “Books are bridges,” the international exhibit will take place from April 25-May 13 and will include, at its heart, the traditional Basque stand, located this year at 1908 in the Yellow Pavilion. During the fair, four Basque-themed books will be presented: 2012 List of Basque Families and Protagonism in Argentina; The Institute of Basque Studies; Martin de Alzaga and Basque Cuisine.

Buenos Aires, Argentina.  The International Book Fair in Buenos Aires is one of the most important references for literature in the Spanish language that has become, over time, a required event for specialists, professors and students, authors and readers.  The fair exceeds the mere exposition of texts and provides the public with complimentary activities like shows, courses, and lectures always linked to the world of culture with many themes in many areas.

On this occasion, the Basque community in Argentina will have two roles at the Fair.  On the one hand, there will be the stand at 1908 in the Yellow Pavilion, and on the other there will be the presentation of various Basque-themed books published in Argentina.

The stand is once again jointly organized between the Basque Argentina Foundation Juan de Garay, and FEVA with support from the Basque Government. Materials of every kind dealing with the Basque Country will be available there, including a selection of texts and books, CDs and DVDs.

The book presentations will take place on Monday, May 6 at 5:30 p.m. at the Victoria Ocampo room.  The books that will be presented are 2012 List of Basque Families and Protagonism in Argentina; The Institute of Basque Studies by Jorge Beramendi; Martin de Alzaga by Mauricio Goyenechea; and Basque Cuisine by Jorge Beramendi.  The authors themselves are in charge of the presentations, more specifically members of the Juan de Garay Foundation, Mauricio Goyenechea and Jorge Beramendi.
