An agreement between both Chambers of Commerce was set this last week during a visit to Idaho by a Bizkaian business delegation, led by the Deputy of Economic and Territorial Development, Imanol Pradales. Ten companies were represented on the trip to Boise where they participated in nearly 70 meetings with some of the main businesses in Idaho in the energy, automotive and food industry sectors.

Bilbao, Bizkaia.   A business delegation from Idaho will visit Bizkaia in 2017 to continue to intensify the commercial ties between both territories.  This is the agreement reached by the Chambers of Commerce in both Boise and Bilbao during the visit carried out by the delegation comprised of a dozen businesses from Bizkaia on May 8-11 thanks to the Provincial Government of Bizkaia and coordinated by Bilbao’s Chamber of Commerce.

During the trip, a total of 70 meetings between the Bizkaian Business with some of the referent businesses in Idaho in strategic sectors such as automotive, Energy and food industry.  According to the Provincial Government, the trip was framed in the agreement signed last summer in Boise between the Deputy General, Unai Rementeria and the Idaho Department of Commerce to enhance trade ties and has served to find common interests and to share experiences in innovation.

This is how the Boise media reported the visit by the business delegation from Bizkaia

The Bizkaian Deputy of Economic and Territorial Development, Imanol Pradales, was very satisfied with how the trip went: “both the Bizkaian businesses, as well as those in Idaho that we were able to meet with, have stressed that there are opportunities for collaboration and common interests.  To the point that the Boise Chamber of Commerce has decided that they will repay the visit next year because they would like to continue to cement the relationship between Bizkaia and these businesses.”

Imanol Pradales has emphasized that the trip has been the first essentially trade mission for Basque companies in Idaho. In this sense, the Deputy has valued the Provincial Government of Bizkaia’s strategy to connect Bizkaia to the world: “We will continue to look for opportunities for business shows abroad and work so that Bizkaia is an attractive place for foreign investment.”
