Buenos Aires, Argentina. Arantxa Anitua is the new President of FEVA, the Federation of Basque Clubs in Argentina.  Elected in April of 2018 the current president, Javier Ederra presented his resignation last Saturday at the institution’s May meeting.  “This is due to personal reasons,” he told EuskalKultura.com, and soon he will move to the Basque Country to live.  According to FEVA’s statues, the first vice-president, in this case Anitua, takes over as president, an office she will hold until the next elections in April of 2020.

The May meeting of the board of directors of FEVA took place last Saturday coinciding with the day before BAC, Buenos Aires Celebra, a big Basque street event in Buenos Aires City.  The meeing was attended by a large representation of Basque clubs from the interior of the country including the Mendiko Eusko Etxea in Bariloche that is now part of the Federation’s board, or Baskos de la Confluencia, one of the youngest Basque clubs in Argentina.

As part of the meeting, representatives from FEVA welcomed Gorka Alvarez Aranburu, Director of the Basque Community Abroad, and Sara Pagola Azpiri, the Delegate of Euskadi in Argentina-Mercosur.
