This is a Basque show created and produced in Argentina.  Its name, EKIL (Euskal Kantuen Ibilbide Luzea) is subtitled as “The Long Journey of Basque Song,” and is due to Rosana Entizne, music specialist, euskaltzale, professor and dynamic supporter of Basque culture in Argentina.  It is a different show, musical revue, songs and words that penetrate the world of Basque singing beginning from Aita Donostia or Usandizaga and arriving to Ez Dok Amairu or event to songs like Guk Euskaraz by Urko.

Buenos Aires, Argentina.   The show puts a piano, singers and multimedia support on stage with words, in addition to other elements like props and wardrobe according to each era, used to create a trip through Basque song, including a selectin of representative songs from composers and translators of popular toons, with names like Aita Donostia, or Madina, Guridi, or Usandizaa, passing through opera and a tribute to Eresoinka on its 80th anniversary, arriving to more contemporary periods and phenomena like Ez Dok Amairu, or songs like Guk Euskaraz by Urko and lyrics by Gandiaga, that are so popular at Basque-Argentine gatherings.

Behind it all is Rosana Entizne, from Bahia Blanca, who is always coming up with new euskaltzale ideas and projects, as well as those that diffuse Euskera and Basque culture.  Accompanying her on this adventure are soprano Victoria Roldan, tenor Cristian Carrero, speaker Miguel Angel Perez and pianist Ezequiel Sarubbi.

The show has been produced by Lyric Doul Producciones.  This is how they present the project: “It is a different musical proposal, through varied musical illustrations, the spectator can share an exciting journey through song in the Basque language, its history, its historical context, its composers and their references.  The show features multimedia support and translations.”

The show is ready to travel throughout the entire country (for other proposals email: direcciondearte@lyricsoul.com.ar) and can be performed at euskal etxeas, cultural centers, theaters or municipal halls.  Why don’t you reach out to see if you could host them in your town?

They will perform in Buenos Aires on Saturday, June 3rd , at the Eusko Kultur Etxea (Eusketxe) in Lizarraenea, Mexico 1880 (between Combate de los Pozos and Entre Rios), CABA at 8pm.  Admission is 200 Pesos.
