“Buenos Aires Celebrates the Basque Country. BAC” will be on May 6th, the next big date in the Diaspora, and an important opportunity that some agencies in the Basque Country don’t want to miss to  meet with  the Basque-Argentine Community.  And so besides representation from the governments in both Iruña-Pamplona and Vitoria-Gasteiz, Jasone Agirre, Secretary of the Diaspora for EH Bildu , and references from Gure Esku Dago, Angel Oiarbide and Iñigo Urrutia, have also announced their attendance.

Buenos Aires, Argentina.  Becoming a classic in the capital city, BAC is one of the most anticipated dates for Basques in Buenos Aires, as well as for those in the interior.  Even if the absolute majority of those attending are from Argentina, there are also Basques from Euskal Herria that make the trip to share the special day.

In regards to institutions and to popular movements, among those who have confirmed their attendance is the Director of the Basque Community Abroad, Gorka Alvarez Aranburu; no information is available yet from the Government of Navarre, but the Secretary of the Diaspora of EH Bildu, parliamentarian, Jasone Agirre, as well as representatives from Gure Esku Dago, Angel Oiarbide and Iñigo Urrutia will also attend.

Talk by Jasone Agirre

We will talk more in an upcoming article about Gorka Alvarez Aranburu’s trip, director of the Basque Community Abroad.  In regards to the Secretary of the Diaspora and EH Bildu, Basque Parliament member, Jasone Agirre Garitaonandia, will give a talk “The Road to Sovereignty,” on Saturday May 5th at 4pm at Euskaltzaleak in Buenos Aires (Bernardo de Irigoyen 826). Gure Esku Dago

On behalf of Gure Esku Dago, Angel Oiarbide and Iñigo Urrutia have planned meetings as well as two public events during their stay in the capital city.  On Saturday, May 5th from 6:30pm-8:00pm, they will participate in a panel at Laurak Bat’s auditorium with Iñaki Anitua as moderator.  The theme of the talk will be an explanation of the popular movement, Gure Esku Dago, its progress, its future, the situation in Catalonia, and how it is influencing the Basque dynamics.

Organizers of the panel will have an urn at the entrance of the auditorium so that anyone can leave their contributions towards the draft of 2019 reasons to decide for the Citizen’s Pact in order to include the voice of the Diaspora.  The event will begin at 6pm at Belgrano 1144.

BAC Human Chain

On June 10th, citizens of the Basque Country are being called to participate in a Human Chain that will unite Donostia, Bilbao and Gasteiz, with the motto “Eman eskua etorkizunari” (Give a hand to the future.)
