Dantzaris always want to dance and those in Rosario couldn’t wait until September when the Basque club will celebrate Dantzari Day.  That is why current and former members of the dance group from Zazpirak Bat got together last Friday, June 1st for what they called a Preview of Dantzari Day.  Accompanying this article is a summary of the club’s latest activities.

Rosario, Argentina.   The Preview of Dantzari Day was organized for two reasons: one, that ex-dancers don’t exist because if youare a dantzari you are a dantzari for life, and that there was no reason to wait until September, when the Dantzari Festival will take place.  The preview was last Friday and gathered a large number of participates.  The dinner was animated, and those present began talking about September’s event, and of course dancers of all ages took to the dance floor.

San Prudentzio, Gernika and Aberri Eguna

At the beginning of May Zazpirak Bat was the site and the protagonist of the festival honoring the patron saint of Alaba, San Prudentzio, with a full house and typical menu of red beans.  Zazpirak Bat also commemorated the Bombing of Gernika on the same day at the Gernika Plaza in front of the Parana River.  On this occasion, members of the Basque club laid a wreath and dantzaris performed an Aurresku.  They also celebrated Aberri Eguna in Rosario this year with two activities, a pilota tournament and dinner.

According to club sources, the first six months of the year have been very active and they expect the same for the next six with dance and Euskera classes, and the film series.  “And of course, the dantzaris, those that are in shape, and others that compensate with the desire to dance, are getting ready for Dantzari Day in September.
