The San Miguel (Aralarko Mikel Deuna) festivities have become a main attraction at the Denak Bat in Mar del Plata in the month of October, not only because it runs for two weeks, but also because it includes a large part of the activities that the club develops. This year, the program began on September 30 with a Pelota Championship and will conclude on October 17h with a performance by the club’s dancers.

Mar del Plata, Argentina.  As every year, Denak Bat in Mar del Plata has once again organized a large program of activities to celebrate Saint Michael, its patron Saint.  The festivities will conclude on October 17, next Saturday with a dance performance.

“At first the idea was to invite dance groups from other clubs, as we have done previously, but being so close to Semana Nacional we didn’t know if it would be possible.  Nevertheless, all of our dancers will participated, txikis, intermediates and adults as well as former dancers.  We will also provide typical dishes like paella, tripakiak, pintxos, tortillas...” as Ignacio Oreja, director of the Beti Alai group, told EuskalKultura.com.

In regards to beginning 2015 activities, we had a Pelota tournament on September 30 at the Teyu Cuare cancha at the clubhouse.  On October 2nd we held a Mus tournament, and a reading marathon organized by the club’s Jose Ariztimuño Library.

There were also activities that were open to the public in general.  A thanksgiving Mass was held at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Cecilia, where our dancers performed after the ceremony.  Sunday will run into the evening, after lunch that will include a lot of good food, music and a Fandango or two.
