The Boise Basque community will get together this Saturday for its second Annual Korrika Fun Run, a fundraising event to help Euskera students attend intensive courses in the Basque Country. The event also aims to raise awareness for the Basque language. Runners will meet at the Basque Club and run to the Julia Davis Park and back. Those who cannot run are encouraged to join in the celebrations, either by volunteering at the registration desk or by making donations. This Fun Run is inspired in Korrika, a two-week-long popular relay run that is organized in the Basque Country every two years by AEK.

Boise, USA. Izaskun Kortazar, Euskera coordinator of NABO (North American Basque Organizations), invites all our Idaho readers to join in the second annual Korrika that will take place on Saturday in Boise. "This is our only fundraising to help our future teachers", says Kortazar.

The run-walk will start at the Basque Center at 10am and will finish again at the Basque Center (601 Grove street). Participants can sign for the run at 9am at the Basque Center. Cost is $15 (includes a Basque logo water bottle). The run wil be followed by a pot-luck.

Organizers ask runners to dress in white, red and green or any of the three colors. People can also help by  volunteering at the registration desk or selling Basque back-packs, setting up tables, guiding the runners or putting up posters for Korrika. To do so, e-mail Izaskun at izaskunkortazar@gmail.com. All volunteers shall be at the Basque Center at 9am. Registration starts at 9:30.

Those who cannot participate can still support Korrika Fun Run by making donations.
