Boise, Idaho.  Izaskun Kortazar, NABO Euskera coordinator and organizer of many Basque language events in Boise, has shared a number of photos with our readers of the latest activities that the local community has held in favor of Euskera.  First, on April 28 the second edition of the Korrika Fun Run was held, an event inspired by the great race that takes place annually in Euskal Herria.  In Boise’s case, it will also be held annually and funds raised will be used to support Basque students in the US. 

The second edition gathered an eager group at the Euskal Etxea, ready to run a few kilometers to support the Basque language cause.  The race, which was run at a pace so that all could participate, was very colorful.  Proud parents pushed baby strollers secured their commitment for younger generations to the Basque language.

Another Basque activity that was enjoyed by Basque students and community members alike was a “Kantu-Poteo” that took place on May 4.  Participants bar hopped on the Basque Block (Basque area of the city) singing traditional Basque songs.  During the course copies of Hi Kantari were passed out, a selection of traditional songs published by the North American Basque Organizations.
